The Stor(e)y

Via (By way of) + 74 (a very good vintage) = Via74

Two years ago my husband and I bought a small farm. We wanted to grow as much of our own food as possible. What we couldn't grow ourselves, we wanted to purchase from local sources whenever we could. In other words, we wanted to live the "eat local" ethos. While farming is my husband's passion, fashion is one of mine. It was around this same time that I became more conscious of where the clothing I bought was being designed and manufactured. I would look at the labels in my clothes and 99% of the time they would read "Made in China." I do believe that we live in a global economy, but I also believe that to be part of a global economy we need to be able to design and manufacture the majority of our own products. Sadly over the past several decades, clothing designers and manufacturers have shifted production overseas. So I started looking for Made in the USA clothing. It was hard to find. And most of what I did find was either very expensive or not at all my style. Then I enrolled in some subscription clothing services and voila I started to receive some great Made in the USA women's clothing that was totally my style and fit into my budget. The only problem was that these US made clothing brands were difficult to find elsewhere. This is why I founded Via74. To make it easy for women to find affordable, well designed, and trendy American-made clothing.
