Buying American-Made Apparel: It Just Makes Sense

September 21, 2015

Did you know that roughly only 2% of the clothing that we buy in the United States is made here?

However, we consume the largest piece of the global apparel pie at 28%. According to the American Apparel and Footwear Association President and CEO, Juanita Duggan, “on average, every American, including every man, woman, and child in the United States, spent $1,141 to purchase 64 garments and 7 ½ pairs of shoes in 2013, more than any other country in the world."

When you do the math, that’s a lot of money that’s being exported right out the door.

So that’s why if you live in the USA, it just makes sense to buy Made in the USA clothing and accessories. When you buy American-made clothes and goods, every dollar that you spend is pumped back into our national economy. While some US made apparel and accessories might cost more than their Asian-made counterparts, just remember that those extra dollars you spend on clothing and accessories made in the USA are helping pay someone’s living wage, as well as making it possible for more items to be created and produced in the United States.

And the more clothing and goods that are created and produced in the US, means that there will be more American jobs created, as well as a much wider selection of American-made apparel for us to choose from in the future. What that means ultimately, is very good things for our national economy.

That’s why here at Via74 we sell only Made in the USA women’s clothing sourced from reputable designers and manufacturers. Every American-made shirt, skirt, dress, and pair of pants listed on is carefully curated for style and quality, not to mention affordability. We strive to provide the best US made women’s apparel at competitive prices. #BuyAmerican #ItJustMakesSense
